What are we about?
Ignite Myanmar (“IM”) began with the simple goal of supporting evangelistic missionaries in Myanmar to enable them to reach the Buddhists with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We strive to provide for the basic needs of each missionary we support: housing, food, clothing and basic supplies to conduct ministry. The missionary’s primary goal is to evangelize his neighbors through conducting Sunday services in his rented home, bible studies, visiting his unreached neighbors and helping with humanitarian issues (taking in homeless orphans [58 currently] is the most significant humanitarian issues the missionaries have confronted).
Who do we serve?
IM serves indigenous missionaries (currently 57) on the front lines of evangelistic outreach in Myanmar. Through the missionaries, Ignite serves the neighbors of its missionaries (90% Buddhist) as well as orphans.
How can we help the lives of those we serve?
IM seeks to introduce non-Christian neighbors of the IM missionaries (mostly Buddhists) to Jesus Christ with the hope of converting those neighbors to a saving faith in Christ and plugging them into the ongoing Christian community begun by the missionary. Each missionary led Christian community conducts Sunday worship in a rented home, bible studies, a visitation ministry and prayer meetings. In addition to creating a Christian community, the missionaries are often called upon to assist with humanitarian issues. Missionaries have conducted food distributions, assisted with children’s schooling, identified a need for a community water well which IM built, and have taken in homeless neighborhood orphans.
